We had showered, combed our hair and acquiesced for having the audacity to approach their establishment while being elderly and clothed in factory-made, department store fare, bearing Costco luggage and believing for a moment our presence would be welcomed. My shadow often wonders if the staff fumigated the place after we left.
So, now we are thinking about a talk with the grand kid about incidents like Ferguson and Baltimore and why there will always be places none of us are free to go regardless any particular ist or ism. And we are trying to consolidate mentally the places where we are not free to go. Take a drive into the country and see all the iron no-trespass blockades and fences, not to mention exclusive gated communities and expensive country club, golf communities and courses.
